One of the most incredible aspects of Canuck Autism Network’s work is the profound impact that is felt by the folks who work within and are supported by the organization. However, many people thought that the website lacked the spirit of connectivity and warmth felt at in-person events and programs. The opportunity to make the digital touchpoints of CAN feel congruent with in-person experiences propelled us to reimagine the website’s storytelling potential while centering accessibility.
A critical part of this website design was helping users who had yet to gain experience with the organization understand who CAN are and what they do. The homepage combines high-level storytelling and concise information architecture to help support different audiences to find what they’re looking for. The highly readable type, grid layout, and energetic yet grounded colours create a structured, approachable interface that supports users across diverse access and sensory needs.
